Dear Friends,
ELECRAMA-2008 has ended, but the euphoria remains!
I am touched by the overwhelming response ELECRAMA has gotten.
Almost on every matrix, ELECRAMA has surpassed expectations. The
total number of visitors during the five days has been in excess of
110,000. The country participations from China, Italy, Germany, Korea
and Taiwan have elicited excellent response and they have already
committed to be part of ELECRAMA-2010 with at least double the space.
A record 107 new products were launched at ELECRAMA-2008.
On a lighter side, while we expanded the restaurant seating by 50
percent, this again fell short. For the first time we set up a crèche to
facilitate parents (and business visitors) who wanted to attend the fair,
but could not leave their children home. Next time we have to plan for
a bigger crèche and much bigger seating and dining areas.
On all accounts, ELECRAMA-2008 has lived up to expectations of visitors
and exhibitors. The feedback to the Organising Committee has been
positive from domestic as well as overseas participants. To top it all,
on the penultimate day of the exhibition, at the ‘Together we Empower’
event organised by ELECRAMA, Shankar, Ehsan and Loy got the entire
1,600 strong crowd rocking to pulsating music! That was indeed a live
display of our energy-packed industry!
All of this goes to reaffirm the theme, the future of power is here. I
am glad that, through this movement called ELECRAMA, we have all
collectively taken Brand India a distinct notch higher.
All this was achieved through the active and wholehearted support of the
IEEMA Executive Council, the ELECRAMA Organising Committee and
the untiring efforts of the Secretariat, which put in long hours to make
the exhibition a success. I must also specially thank the various service
providers and temporary staff, for their sincere contribution.
I see with optimism, the journey that Indian electrical industry is taking.
There is rapid growth and expansion all around, fuelled by a fierce desire
to bring Electricity to all by 2012. All of this means, greater challenges,
bigger opportunities, and higher aspirations. And ELECRAMA shall
continue to evolve and provide a platform for realising these aspirations.
I am confident ELECRAMA-2010 will now emerge as the launch pad for
Empowered India!
Wishing you all success,

Vimal Mahendru
Chairman
