INDIAN ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION
IEEMA is the national representative organisation of manufacturers of electrical,
industrial electronics and allied equipment.
Founded in 1948, IEEMA today represents over 650 member-organisations from public,
joint and private sectors, whose combined annual turnover is in excess of Rs 1,10,000
crores, i.e. US dollars 22 billion, with its members having a distinction of contributing
to more than 95% of the 1,50,000 MW of power generating capacity installed in India.
Now in its 63rd year of existence, IEEMA continues to provide unique services to
its members. IEEMA undertakes various activities, major ones being disseminating
information about government policy changes and statistics, representing views of
the industry to the government, evolving price variation clauses covering a wide
range of products and circulating price indices for the same, formulating industry
standards etc.
IEEMA conducts technical activities under various divisions, where members meet
and discuss issues concerning the industry and its growth opportunities.
Organizing ELECRAMA exhibitions, one of the world’s largest exhibition dedicated
to the electrical T&D sector, international seminars, workshops and training programmes,
publishing a monthly, IEEMA Journal, are among the other initiatives on offer.
As the representative organisation of the electrical and industrial electronics
industry in India, IEEMA is also a part of many councils and committees constituted
by the Government.
IEEMA as the voice of the industry maintains a dialogue with the Government, utilities,
other users, standardization bodies, educational, research, development and testing
institutions.
Initiatives with the Government
IEEMA interacts with the Ministry of Power for successful implementation of the
Restructured Accelerated Power Development & Reforms Programme (R-APDRP) and the
Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY), supports the Bureau of Energy Efficiency
in standards and labeling programme for energy efficient products, interacts with
standards and testing institutions, organizes DRUM training programmes with the
Ministry of Power and quality awareness programmes with the Quality Council of India
etc.
International Co-operation
For developing business co-operation opportunities, IEEMA networks with overseas
counterpart associations through exchange of information, assistance to membership
and other joint programmes. IEEMA has also signed memorandum of understandings with
a number of associations in various countries. IEEMA is one of the founder members
of FAEMA, The Federation of Asian Electrical Manufactures’ Associations.
Export Promotion
IEEMA organizes high-level delegation visits and participation in exhibitions abroad
for promotion of export of its members.
Activities and Initiatives
IEEMA evolves equitable Price Variation Clauses covering a wide range of products,
used by both purchasers and suppliers and circulates basic prices and indices for
the same.

IEEMA, through its various publications, provides its members the latest information.

Publications and New Initiatives
IEEMA networks with national and international apex as well as sectoral associations
and chambers of commerce to exchange information and create business opportunities.
IEEMA Journal
Today, a synonym for the Indian electrical industry, IEEMA Journal was started with
the intent of keeping its members abreast of technological and related developments
in the local as well as international arena. And what started as a small journal,
has today evolved into a full-fledged magazine that signifies a fine example of
professionalism in the domain of trade publications. With an Audit Bureau of Circulation
certification for 10,000 copies, it enjoys a readership of over 50,000.
SME Focus
IEEMA is working on capacity building and up-gradation of SMEs towards level of
global excellence. In order to encourage the SMEs to implement modern quality tools
and techniques, a special ‘IEEMA SME Quality Award’ has been instituted.
Corporate Social Responsibility
As a small contribution to the society, IEEMA has launched a media awareness campaign
to ‘Save Electricity’ using the print, voice and electronic media. Secondary level
school children as well as their parents are also being exposed to this campaign
through presentations, posters and brochures.
Events
ELECRAMA exhibitions are one of the largest exhibitions of its kind where more than
1,000 exhibitors participate in an exhibition area in excess of 50,000 square metres.
Elecrama Exhibitions
Started way back in 1990 with 283 exhibitors and spread over an area of 12,500 square
meters, ELECRAMA has now become the largest international exhibition of electrical
and industrial electronics industry in Asia, Middle East and Africa. The 8th exhibition
in the series, ELECRAMA-2008 saw a tremendous growth where 1,071 exhibitors exhibited
their products, technologies and services in an area of 50,000 square meters.
IEEMA Events
Apart from a number of technical product-specific international seminars, IEEMA
also organises various national conferences and workshops. The focal point of all
these activities revolve around bringing together professionals across borders for
a common vision and to take industry to a higher level, giving India its much deserved
place in the world.
IEEMA Training Programmes
As a result of globalisation, the market conditions have become fiercely competitive.
Under such circumstances, quality human resources emerge as the most critical factor
for effective operation of the industry. IEEMA, in its constant endeavour to find
new and innovative ways towards improvement of its services, organises training
programmes catering to the needs of the Indian industry.
